  • The HWS and Mutual of Omaha sponsored tech careers exploration fair is live! This event will be held on May 2, 2019 from 10a-2p at AIM Institute. Please share with students, teachers, and parents in your network. Due to space limitations, registration for this event is limited to 100 high school students. Thank you to Krystal Rider and Ken Spellman for working with us to ensure we selected a date and timeframe that will work well for most students.

    The Leaders In Training (L.I.T.) program is specifically developed for campers to advance their leadership abilities. L.I.T’s have opportunities to build skills in communication, problem solving, teamwork, decision making, planning, and conflict resolution. They will have the opportunity to grow through our leadership experience while enjoying the T.R.U.S.T. Course, archery, canoeing, fishing and a variety of other camp activities! After completion of the L.I.T. program, successful candidates are invited to volunteer as a Camp Apprentice, the first step in our staff development process.     & Space Museum. Kids of all ages are welcome. The event will take place on May 31 at the Resurrection Lutheran Church from 6:30-7:30pm.

    This camp is for students entering 7-9 grades in the fall of 2019 and lasts from June 3-7 from 8:30am - 3:30pm each day.

    Every day we visit one or more exciting startups or well-known businesses in the Omaha area and talk with business founders to learn how they became successful. Visit the coolest high tech startup, tour the largest transmission factory, explore a business incubator with 80 startup companies or see how the sausage is made at Omaha's largest meat packing plant. We see it all!

    Explore entrepreneurship in college

    Tour Mammel Hall, a state-of-the-art business school. Learn about UNO’s student entrepreneurs’ organization, its business competitions and the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Franchising.

    Virtual business simulation

    You will experience the excitement of planning and starting a business. Your team will brainstorm ideas, choose a business name and logo, and create marketing strategies using social media. At the end of the camp, teams will pitch their business ideas to parents and guests.

    Think outside the box

    Energizing games and exercises are not only fun, but will boost your confidence and skill in generating and communicating your ideas.

    Meet young entrepreneurs

    Workshop leaders, presenters and speakers include faculty of UNO's College of Business Administration, students from UNO's chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization, Omaha's most successful entrepreneurs, and recent grads who are practicing entrepreneurs.

Our staff members are chosen based on their rapport with children, knowledge of the subject matter and love of learning. Your child will learn so much and enjoy every moment of Aim for the Stars Science and Math Camp. There are also a variety of camps you can register your child for during any of the camp weeks. These range anywhere from 3-D printing, Science Fiction, and Engineering focused camps!

    Fly away for the morning and learn all about aerodynamics and aviation with some of the best pilots in town. The Greater Omaha Aviation STEM Day seeks to educate both youth and young adults on different aspects of aviation and careers in the aviation field. Free airplane rides will be offered to kids ages 8-17 by the EAA Chapter 80 Young Eagles, as well as hands on drone demonstrations by the Tuskegee Airman, Omaha Chapter,  and a paper airplane competition put on by the Civic Air-Patrol Composite Squad. While there,  feel free to take a look at the static aircraft displays featuring models like the P-51 Gunfighter and a Blanik L-23 Sailplane. To learn more, visit aviationstemday.org.

    CodeCrush is a series of iSTEM immersion experiences for 8th and 9th grade girls and their teachers, designed to show them the innovative world of IT. The program will inspire girls and their teachers to take a deeper look at IT through hands-on experiences with emerging IT fields such as bioinformatics, IT innovation, music technology and cybersecurity.

     

    The camp is free for high school students and educators, and will be $55 for non students and educators. All attendees from outside the Omaha area will have the option to stay overnight in the Scott Residence Halls at the University of Omaha  at Omaha Scott campus.     Do you love crime-fighting shows, like CSI, and think the agents or people like Abby are some of the coolest people out there? Come learn about real crime fighting in the cyber world! Try advanced hands-on activities in a computer lab as you learn key techniques used to protect computer networks from intruders. You’ll actually use the tools that real cybercrime fighters use! You’ll be able to complete the requirements for three Cybersecurity badges; Cybersecurity Basics, Cybersecurity Safeguards, and Cybersecurity Investigator. All girls participating must be in 8th grade or older.
