    THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2020 9:00 – 10:00 AM

    This NDEAM Event will gain an understanding of workplace inclusion and disability etiquette, discuss talking about disabilities in an interview and reasonable accommodations. Nebraska VR staff members will be available to answer your questions and provide businesses with access to an untapped resource of qualified applicants, support services after the hire, information about assistive technology, and accommodations to keep existing employees on the job.

    We are offering a miniworkshop in conjunction with
    the release of this brand-new curriculum. During the
    90 minute workshop session, we will focus our time on
    the “Environmental Justice for All” lesson which
    explores that while everyone has an equal right to a
    healthy environment, not everyone has access to one.
    In the activity, students propose actions to resolve
    various scenarios and then research issues related to
    environmental justice in Nebraska.

This event will feature celebrity presenters, CS education influencers, a high impact keynote, and more. Our five segments, include

  • WANTO Grant Info Session with Don Bacon

    “The office of Congressman Don Bacon invites you to participate in a presentation on the WANTO Grant: Women in Apprenticeships and Non-Traditional Occupations.  Congressman Don Bacon will speak about the policies that are encouraging women entrepreneurialism, expansion into apprenticeship, non-traditional occupations, and manufacturing. A presentation of the WANTO Grant will be given in collaboration with Metro Community College. The grant will assist in career placement for women in these roles. After the presentation those who would like to participate in the application with MCC will be given the opportunity to sign up with them for further community collaboration. The goal of this informational conference is to build a consortium of businesses, education centers, and associations from the community of Omaha that will benefit from this grant to give women placement in these non-traditional occupations.
