  • When I Grow Up: Girls STEAM Career Day

    Girls in the 7th to 12th grades are invited to participate in this event.
    Girls will be introduced to STEAM professionals, exposed to
    interactive STEAM design activities, and will be given the
    opportunity to network one-on-one to discuss employment and
    educational opportunities.

    The Charles Darwin Foundation for the Galapagos Islands is an international NGO dedicated to scientific research.  Since 1959 the foundation has ensured conservation success with collaborations and partnerships including governments and agencies and individual researchers.

    These partnerships allow for joint research projects, knowledge transfer, data management, volunteer support and training, facilitation of research and advancement of conservation programming including ecosystem protection, recovery plans, prevention of invasive species impacts and sustainable food production.

    The mission of the Charles Darwin Foundation and its Research Station is to provide knowledge and assistance through scientific research and complementary action to ensure the conservation of the environment and biodiversity in the Galapagos.

  • National Public Gardens Day at Lauritzen Gardens

    Lauritzen Gardens, along with many other public gardens across the United States, will celebrate National Public Gardens Day. It is viewed as the unofficial beginning of the gardening season.

    National Public Gardens Day was founded by the American Public Gardens Association to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and their role in promoting environmental stewardship and education in communities nationwide. As many as 500 member institutions will participate by offering special events and activities for visitors.

    Lauritzen Gardens, along with many other public gardens across the United States, will celebrate National Public Gardens Day. It is viewed as the unofficial beginning of the gardening season.

    Visitors to Lauritzen Gardens on this day will enjoy free admission and an opportunity to learn about the various offerings the garden provides throughout the year.

    The café will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At this event, you will enjoy tea, small pastries, and sandwiches while you see and learn all about raptors. Their staff will bring in raptors and talk about their specific species while you enjoy your high tea. Fancy dress is encouraged.
